Saint-Lô and its surroundings hold some of the finest wedding venues in Normandy. I have had the pleasure of working at the Château de la Roque, in the Théreval valley — a sixteenth-century estate where the late-afternoon light on the schist stone is, I believe, unbeatable. At the Domaine de la Palombe, five kilometres from Saint-Lô, the avenue of centuries-old trees and the lake offer natural settings I never need to stage. At the Ferme du Château d’Agneaux, just outside Saint-Lô, every day has its own light, its own emotion.
A wedding in Saint-Lô is often Normandy at its most beautiful — the bocage countryside, the Atlantic light, skies that shift mood within minutes. It is these elements that make the strongest images. I do not command them; I wait for them.
