Marriage Proposal at Mont-Saint-Michel — Nicolas and Varsha

Nicolas and Varsha came from Belgium. A beautiful autumn day, the bay as far as the eye can see, and the Mont in the distance.

Nicolas asked Varsha to marry him in front of Mont-Saint-Michel, among the winding channels of the bay, where the grass of the salt meadows is cut through by small tidal creeks.

In the bay, down on one knee

They stand face to face at the edge of a creek. Nicolas goes down on one knee in the grass and opens the box. Behind them, the Mont. I stayed at a distance: that moment belongs to them.

The yes, and the laughter after

Then the embrace, and Varsha's laughter, the ring on her finger. For the rest of the day, we simply walked through the bay.

The Mont in warm light

Late in the day, the Mont reveals itself in a warm light. The stone lights up, the grass too, and the sky turns from blue to pink. Varsha ends up on Nicolas's back, laughing.

Among the sheep

The salt-meadow sheep are part of the landscape of the bay. That day, the flock was right there, a few metres away: all I had to do was let Nicolas and Varsha walk among them.
