Corporate photo shoot:
how does it work?

Complete guide · Normandy · 2026

Your clients don't visit your workshops. They don't meet your teams. What they see of your business is your images. They might as well tell the truth — and tell it well.

Many businesses put off a photo shoot because they imagine a heavy operation: a crew turning up, production interrupted, uncomfortable staff. The reality is the opposite: a well-prepared shoot blends into your working day, without stopping anything. That is in fact the condition for the images to ring true.

Here, step by step, is how a corporate photo shoot works as I have been doing it for years with businesses in Normandy — from a joinery workshop to a fishing boat, from an architects' practice to a bank branch.

Why real images rather than stock photos?

Generic photos bought online are recognisable at first glance: models in suits shaking hands in a glass-walled office that isn't yours. They tell the story of a company that doesn't exist. Your clients can tell, and so can your job applicants.

A shoot on your premises shows your real gestures, your real machines, your real faces. That is what builds trust — on your website, your social media, your press kits, your job ads. An authentic image works for you for years.

The 5 steps of a successful shoot.

1

The brief — we define what your images need to say

It all starts with a conversation, by phone or on site. What makes your business distinctive? What will the images be used for — website, LinkedIn, press, recruitment, trade fair? Who needs to be photographed, which places, which moments of the day?

This brief shapes everything else: the list of images to produce, the best time to come (light, activity), the time needed.

2

The quote — clear, within 48 hours

You receive a detailed proposal: length of the shoot (half day, full day or several visits), number of images delivered, timescales, usage rights. Everything is in writing; there are no surprises.

Travel is included throughout the Manche and Calvados; for the rest of Normandy and France, it is simply added to the quote.

3

The shoot — I fade into the background

On the day, no forced staging: I work as a documentary photographer while your teams genuinely work. My job is to go unnoticed so I can catch the right gestures — twenty years of weddings, where you never get a second take, taught me that better than any school.

If the brief also includes posed portraits, they are slotted into the day, a few minutes per person, without tying up a whole department.

4

The selection and editing — the sorting that makes the difference

After the shoot, I select the best images and process them one by one: light, colour, framing. No fashionable filter that will look dated in two years — a natural, consistent look, in line with your visual identity.

5

The delivery — images ready to use

You receive your images in high definition through a private online gallery, in formats suited to your uses (web, print, social media). Usage rights are set out in the quote: you know exactly what you can do with them, and for how long.

What you need to prepare: almost nothing.

And if your needs come back every year?

New staff to photograph, projects to document, internal events: for businesses whose image lives all year round, I offer a recurring appointment — same settings, same light, same look at every visit. Your communication stays consistent without having to explain everything again each time. For portraits in particular, I have covered the subject in detail in the guide Professional team portraits and LinkedIn photos.

That is exactly what happened at Menuiseries du Cotentin: a first day in the workshop, then a second three months later to photograph the projects completed in the meantime. The full story is online — it is the best answer to the question "so what does it actually look like?".

Where I work.

I am based in Saint-Lô and work throughout Normandy — notably in Saint-Lô, Caen, Cherbourg and Bayeux — as well as anywhere in France for assignments that warrant it. My approach and the businesses that have trusted me are set out on the page corporate photographer in Normandy.
