For many American couples, Normandy isn't just beautiful — it's meaningful. The D-Day beaches, the American Cemetery, Bayeux: this is a region woven into American history. Pair that with cinematic coastline and storybook châteaux, and it's one of the most moving places in France to marry. I'm an English-speaking, internationally awarded photographer based in Normandy — here's what to know.
A region with deep ties to America
From Utah and Omaha beaches to the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer and the historic town of Bayeux, this coast holds a special resonance for American families — some with a personal connection. Many couples choose to weave a visit, or a quiet moment of remembrance, into their trip.

Where to celebrate
Beyond the historic coast, Normandy offers superb venues: the Château les Hauts overlooking the bay of the Mont-Saint-Michel, the Château de la Roque and Domaine de la Palombe near Saint-Lô, the Manoir de Chivré between Bayeux and Saint-Lô, and the seaside elegance of Deauville and Honfleur.
The practicalities
Legally marrying in France is complex for non-residents, so most international couples marry legally at home and hold a symbolic or humanist ceremony here — or elope, just the two of you. Normandy is about two hours from Paris, with major airports nearby. Everything I do is in clear English, from first email to final gallery.
My approach
Documentary and cinematic — honest, unposed, emotion-first. Whether it's a vow ceremony above the bay or a private moment on a historic beach, I capture it as it truly happens.
