The Lecapitaine family trusted me with an urban family session through the streets of Caen, in Calvados. No beach, no countryside — the city. Pale stone, old façades, the cobbles of the centre, the quieter side streets. Caen is a photographic city: its architecture blends the medieval with post-war reconstruction, and every district has its own light.

For a family session in an urban setting, I choose places that combine architectural character with room for the children. I don't want them on their best behaviour — I want them to be themselves, to explore, to forget the camera. A good family photo in the city is an image that looks nothing like a tourist postcard.

Based in Saint-Lô in the Manche, I regularly work in Caen and throughout Calvados for family sessions, portraits and reportage. Caen is fifty minutes from Saint-Lô — a short trip that makes it easy to arrange half-day sessions to suit the light and the children's energy.

For Caen families who prefer a natural setting, I also arrange family sessions in Ouistreham, on the Calvados beaches, in Bayeux or across the Bessin. The idea is always the same: to find the place where your family will most naturally be itself.

An urban family session lasts around an hour and a half. We meet in Caen city centre or in a district chosen in advance, and we simply wander. I let the pace settle, I follow the children, I wait for the genuine looks. The images are delivered within two weeks through a private online gallery.
